General

We always try to schedule you in as soon as possible with one of our crews working around the city. While we cannot always guarantee a time or day, we will get your job scheduled for as soon as we possibly can. We will always notify you a day before we come by to confirm your booking.

Safety is our first priority: your loved ones, your property, and our employees. Our liability insurance, which covers personal injury to individuals on the job and your property, has $5,000,000 in coverage. All of our employees are also covered with WCB and use industry standard equipment for safety. Your satisfaction determines our satisfaction. If you believe we have not provided an exceptional service or if there may have been a miscommunication, please call us right away: we will get the job done right on a first-priority basis. That’s the Yard Dawgs promise. If we cannot make the work right to your satisfaction, your money will be refunded.

General Lawn Related

Once you book your package, your home’s address is submitted into our service queue. We prioritize your job in the order it was received and we also optimize our routes to ensure we’re doing other homes near your address on the same day. We will notify you 24 hours before we come by and we will call you the day after your service has been completed to make sure you’re happy. We aren’t able to promise a time or day we can come by, but we will always get to you as soon as we possibly can.

Grass thrives when it is watered in the morning (best) or the evening (second best) while the outdoor temperatures are still moderately cool. Your grass with thrive on being watered 3-4 times per week. We also recommend watering 24 hours after we have provided weed control and fertilizer treatment and immediately after we have aerated and/ or slit seeded and / or power raked.

Organic Fertilizer and Weed Control

Yes, we focus on treatments which are good for your lawn, our planet, and your family. It is important however to not allow your Children and/or Pets on the lawn for 24 hours or until the treatment has dried. If your pet has a tendency to eat or chew up your grass, for good measures we recommend keeping them off for up to 48 hours.

Within 2 days you should notice your weeds beginning to wither and  within a week you should see your lawn turn a bolder green which radiates a healthier look. If you believe that after two weeks you aren’t getting adequate results, please reach out to us and we will return and provide touch ups where needed free of charge. Please make sure you’re watering your lawn three to four times per week 24 hours after we have done our treatment!

Power Raking

Power raking is the process of dethatching your lawn. Over the cold winter months, your lawn changes. A protective layer of “thatch” is created from the older dying grass to protect the newer healthy grass and seedlings. Our power rakes remove the recommended 40-60% of thatch since a small amount actually enhances your lawn through natural composting. Not all brown grass is taken away because not all of it is dead. Too much dethatching is unhealthy for the lawn.

We recommend power raking on a yearly basis in the spring time once the weather will be consistently warmer.

(End of April, All of May, All of June)

We will fill your green cart to its capacity, especially if power raking. We will put any remaining thatch in non-compostable bags for you to later empty into your green cart for the following week. Unfortunately, compostable bags do not have the strength needed to contain the large amounts of thatch we remove from your lawn.

If your bags are causing you grief or you are unable to remove them from your property, please reach out to us and we will come pick them up.

Aeration

Snow, footsteps, and other factors cause your lawn to compress itself together over time. This compaction makes it difficult for your lawn to breathe, replenish itself, thrive, and support new growth. The process of aerating involves removing ¾ to 1 ¾ inch cores from the top layer of your lawn. These open holes allow air and water to flow freely into your turf to provide the nutrients it needs. The cores on your lawn will decompose over the next two week.

We base our prices on several factors: square footage, slope of the lawn, obstacles, and location. We’d be happy to provide a free, no obligation quote for your property! The average price of a residential lawn of up to 4,000 sqft is $50 per mow & trim.
